"Well, running JR Management Accountancy Ltd can feel like raising a child. It is all consuming.
1. It makes me happy most days, and I feel immensely proud when I tell people that I run my own business and that I love my job. At times, it makes me frustrated. On rare occasions, it has made me cry.
2. It is always on my mind. I usually spend my early morning dog walks thinking about the challenges in the days ahead. I often find the answers to tricky problems on these walks which reinforces the point that we are at our most creative first thing in the morning.
3. When I am at the gym or running, my brain is often occupied with JRMA planning. And now that we have a beautiful office space, there are days when I have had to tear myself away to go home to my family in the evening.
Yes, it can be lonely at the top. The buck stops with me, and it is me who has to make decisions and then live with the outcome.
But I am lucky enough to have a brilliantly capable and loyal team, as well as inspiring and entrepreneurial customers who all seem to operate at 100 mph!
So, on a final point, running a small business is never, ever dull. It always has it's ups and downs, but it's what I love."
