Rare Consulting

Rare Consulting are a marketing business based in London who have recently diversified from their core business by developing their own market research software. As the investment in this diversification progressed, the owners realised that they needed greater clarity of their financial position and contacted us following a recommendation.

JRMA now provide a fully outsourced accountancy service for Rare Consulting. Vicki and Harry provide bookkeeping services utilising Sage, prepare the payroll and VAT returns. Judith has introduced a budget and a monthly management accounts pack and attends their board meetings. Vicki has also setup a cashflow forecast for the Rare team to update and follow, so that they can easily see the impact of their decision making.

Despite the physical distance between Rare and JRMA, the relationship works well as both parties are keen to embrace technology to enable the transfer of information, and also importantly because there is a good rapport between the two businesses.

Handling Concepts

Handling Concepts designs and manufactures bespoke handling equipment for a wide range of industrial applications. They operate from their premises in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.

In 2018, both the owner-founder and the finance director were preparing for retirement, and the business was sold in a management buyout (MBO). Initially, Judith became involved in preparing forecasts to support the MBO and then by introducing a comprehensive budget and creating detailed management accounts reports. Jo helped the new management team introduce improved systems of job costings by implementing Sage Projects to enable greater clarity of profitability and also helped them to create a rolling 13 week cashflow forecast in Excel.

On an ongoing basis, Judith now prepares monthly management accounts and attends finance meetings to present and discuss the results. We also provide ad-hoc assistance to their in-house bookkeeper.
